Definition: On-the-job occupational skill training by a DVR participant with a specific employer
Goal: To assist the participant in obtaining the specific occupational skills competitive employment
levels of competency.
Outcomes:
- To obtain specific occupational skills necessary to perform the essential functions of a specific job
- To increase skill in negotiating the psychosocial work environment
- To increase skill in managing activities related to work
1. On-the-job training full support.
This option is typical for the early phases of employment when 1:1 supervision and training at the
work place is appropriate, and includes:
- task analysis
- development and implementation of individualized behavioral training curricula
- establishing natural supports
- coordinating the training process with the participant's personal support system
- training/advising/consulting with supervisors and/or co-workers
2. On-the-job training partial support (negotiated on a performance basis).
Partial support includes the services described under full support, but at a greatly
reduced level designed to insure the success of the participant's training.
Auxiliary services include:
3. Transportation training (plan-development; training negotiated on a performance basis).
The ability to successfully access transportation systems may be a critical component of the participant's
employability. Transportation training includes developing a mobility-training program from home to
work and/or other community resources for the participant. It may include 1:1 training on using the
bus system or other modes of transportation.
